This section provides education for building officials, the design profession and the construction industry through several biannual training seminars given two times a year around the state.
The section also meets with and provides education and input to other construction-related industries such as the Homebuilders Association, Minnesota Institute of Architects, Minnesota Coalition of Structural Engineers, Consulting Engineers Council, Minnesota Society of Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineers and other associations.

Course title: IRC Fire Sprinkler Plan Review, Installation and Inspection
When and where: April 2, 2015, to June 4, 2015, at nine locations throughout Minnesota. Visit the registration page to view dates, locations and to register.
This course is offered to provide the local building or fire official training in plan review and inspections of one- and two-family home fire suppression systems as required by the 2015 Minnesota State Residential Code. In addition, a basic understanding of requirements for submittal of documents, installations and design parameters for designers, contractors and installers is provided.
The morning portion of the seminar includes fundamental fire and fire sprinkler concepts: what fire is and how it works, components of fire, and how and why water extinguishes fire. In addition to understanding the attributes of fire, discussion about the code, the standards and their application is also offered.
The afternoon focuses on the nuts and bolts of the plan review and inspection of these systems. Topics include:
